UNIVERSITY OWN DEGREES

The UPNA (Public University of Navarra) has its own official degrees which are managed through the Fundación Universidad Sociedad (University Society Foundation). These degrees are a really useful instrument, making it possible to rapidly and flexibly respond to the educational needs of the area and to market trends. The degree courses that can currently be taken and that are most related to the subject areas of IRIS are:

SPECIALIST DIPLOMA IN CYBERSECURITY AND ETHICAL HACKING

· (Blended, 31.5 ECTS). Directed at a career in the management of cybersecurity, covering all aspects of its life cycle and providing the regulatory framework governing these operating activities.

SPECIALIST DIPLOMA IN INTERNET OF THINGS (IOT) AND INDUSTRY 4.0

· (In-class, 30 ECTS). The paradigm of IoT encompasses all the strategic regional lines in Navarra in a cross-cutting way and it is directly applicable to the area of healthcare, autonomous and connected vehicles, Industry 4.0 and the agro-food sector.

UNIVERSITY EXPERT IN DATA SCIENCE AND MACHINE LEARNING

· (In-class, 20 ECTS). Directed at training professionals who capable of applying these techniques in order to transform data into useful information.

SPECIALIST DIPLOMA IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF VIDEO GAMES AND VIRTUAL REALITY APPLICATIONS

· (In-class, 36 ECTS). Its goal is the specialisation in the areas of virtual reality, augmented reality and the design of video games.

AD HOC TRAINING COURSES

The third and most flexible instrument employed by the UPNA to offer training to enterprises and institutions, is the design of specific courses that respond to the training needs expressed by enterprises. The enterprises themselves determine the content and its scope, generally established through a contract under article 83 of the LRU (University Reform Act). In this respect, the UPNA can offer customised training in any of the scientific-technical areas of competence mentioned:

DATA SCIENCE LABORATORY

Set up by the Department of Economic and Business Development within the 2020 Industrial Plan of Navarra, it is directed at promoting the application of Big Data in enterprises in the industrial and ICT sectors in Navarra. The following are of particular note in the range of courses offered:

• Introduction to Data Science. Directed at personnel from companies with projects to apply Data Science (management and ICT personnel). The first part of the course (4h) is focussed on both types of employees (administration/management and ICT personnel). The rest of the course will centre on ICT personnel to teach them about the generally used tools and techniques.

• Data Science for Technical personnel. Directed at personnel from ICT companies.

INTERNATIONALISATION OF TALENT RELATED TO DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION

SPECIFIC MOBILITY SCHEME

This scheme offers employees the possibility to make international stays for a specific duration, co-funded by the Government of Navarra and the company or institution wishing to take part in the scheme. Such employees will take part in the development of R&D&i projects or actions related to the new Digital Transformation technologies. The scheme is governed through a specific call for proposals for the Digital Innovation Pole and contemplates both short-term (fact-finding visits) and long-term stays (post-doctoral stays).

CONSULTANCY

AWARENESS RAISING AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

QUICK SCAN DIGITALIZATION AND 4.0

Short diagnosis service based on a qualified interview with part of a company’s management team in order to perform a Rapid Screening with regard to digitalisation and 4.0. A high-level generalised diagnosis would be made, based on a 3-hour interview with a team of 2 experts. This would give the company a “Digitalisation profile” in order to direct its overall situation with regard to digitalisation.

CUSTOMISED TRAINING

Modular training sessions, structured into 8-hour formats, on digitalisation frameworks and technologies. The training has a wide scope, with many formats and different prices. A module directed at a company is given as a reference.

TECHNOLOGY IMMERSION SESSIONS

Focal and technical knowledge sessions on certain technologies, for purposes such as the provision of information, demonstrations, offering solutions or presenting innovations with high TRL.

INTERVENTION

PATHWAYS TOWARDS DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION TO INDUSTRY 4.0

Service to diagnose and establish a strategy and roadmap for the transformation.
This service would be adapted to suit the needs of the sectors:

• Industry: 4.0 pathways and Activa 4.0 programmes for
SMEs.
• Services: Digital transformation for services.
• Third Sector: Digital transformation for the third sector.

The programme will use a standardised diagnosis to analyse the initial situation of the company, combining: Strategy, Product, Processes and Persons. The application to the different sectors will be based on similar models, yet adapted to the distinctive characteristics of each sector. The service will include the establishment of the roadmap and 3 bimonthly monitoring sessions (1 semester) to support the implementation of projects.

INNOVATION PATHWAYS AND TECHNOLOGY ROADMAPS

Service for the diagnosis and establishment of innovation plans and technology roadmaps. Due to its characteristics, it is a service directed at industry and intensive knowledge services (engineering, professional services based on research, banking, insurance, healthcare, etc.)

The programme will be designed to suit the potential capacities of the company. In this case, size is not a determining factor in the company’s innovation potential, given that some Startups have great potential yet it may be complicated to establish a technology roadmap.

The service will include the establishment of the roadmap and 3 bimonthly monitoring sessions (1 semester) to support the implementation of projects.

 

ACCESS TO FINANCE

Service to provide information and signposting for access to project financing. It is a service based on an analysis of the financing needs and the return of calls for proposals and associated means. It will not include the preparation of files and/or applications.

BUSINESS PLANS

Preparation and development of business plans for innovative technology-based solutions. The price for the preparation of the business plan will depend on the state of development of the solution and the corresponding size of the company.

ASSISTANCE IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF TECHNOLOGICAL SOLUTIONS.

Assistance for SMEs in the implementation of technological solutions. Prescription of solutions and feasibility analysis to determine whether such solutions are suitable for contracting by SMEs. This is an “Interim CTO” service, to ensure that companies receive the support of experts in the process to adopt new technology.

The service will be charged by contract periods, given that the monitoring of these projects requires ongoing support (weekly monitoring meetings).

R&D. KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER

IRIS is a physical space in which interaction between Science, Technology and Industry facilitates the development of new products, processes and services, specifically designed for a Society that is decisively progressing towards its digital transformation. The said development requires the very close collaboration between different knowledge areas and skills, the combined use of a range of innovative technologies and the sharp reduction in test and adjustment lead times. In other words, it is necessary to implement co-creation open innovation methodologies. IRIS facilitates this process with the help of persons with great experience in the different technologies involved in this digital transformation.

We are now going to run through these technologies, starting with the collection of the necessary data (Sensor system). This data is then used to extract and construct valuable information (Artificial Intelligence) that will make it easier for us to develop new products and optimised production processes (Advanced Manufacture, Robotics, Mechatronics, New Materials, Biotechnology) in a secure digital environment (Cybersecurity).

Before going ahead and incorporate new technologies into products and processes, IRIS makes it possible to have more information on:

  • The practical implications of these new technologies on the way new products are developed and how the processes are managed.
  • Whether these technologies will come up to expectations in terms of greater competitiveness.
  • Whether it will be possible to reach a level of mastery of these technologies that will permit their optimal utilisation.

For this purpose, IRIS will set up a special area in which companies will be able to make prototypes and quanitfy the investments to be made (“test before invest”).

EXCHANGE OF GOOD PRACTICES

Experience sharing with other companies will be a core activity within IRIS. On some occasions, the digital transformation of a production activity or a company leads to a change in the culture of that company. The management of a cultural change is not easy, and it is extremely valuable to be able to share experiences with other companies involved in similar processes.

 

Access to the technologies available in the European Network of Digital Innovation Hubs.

The European Network of Digital Innovation Hubs comprises over 200 experiences similar to IRIS, mostly located in European regions.
Each of these Hubs contributes different visions and experience to others, both in their specialised technologies as well as the way they disseminate and implement them.
IRIS is in contact with all of these Hubs, some with specific agreements that facilitate greater approximation and ease of sharing experience related to digital transformation.

Sometimes the digital transformation of a productive activity or of a company goes hand-in-hand with a change in the culture of that company. Managing cultural change is not easy, and being able to share experiences with other companies involved in similar processes is highly valuable.
