In the regional community, the company Ingredalia is working to reduce waste. It takes advantage of the residues generated during the production of frozen, canned or fresh product, recovering the beneficial compounds that the unused parts still retain.
How is this achieved? Thanks to innovative technologies such as microencapsulation, Ingredalia concentrates the bioactive components of broccoli and releases them more effectively in the body than by consuming the vegetable directly. Thus, the benefits of broccoli are multiplied without having to taste it, presenting it in more pleasant formats such as gummies or flavoured tablets. This is a practical and powerful way to take advantage of the benefits of vegetables, reducing waste and promoting health.
Thanks to the financial support of the PADIH and the management of IRIS, Ingredalia has been able to continue innovating, expanding its capacities and products. The programme has provided it with advice in the search of financing sources to implement new technologies.
